About the Act:

MGMT are an American Indie rock group/duo from Connecticut. They are multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. They recruited more musicians for live performances and then started to use them for recording too. They have been active since 2002.


About the Album:

This is the debut album by the duo, which comes after the release of a successful EP. They re-recorded some of the songs from the EP for the album.

Review:

This has a kind of sound of American Indie rock, quite energetic and "dirty" in it's approach, but with some psychedelic elements (mostly sound processing and synth sounds reminiscent of earlier psychedelic stuff). It's quite a strong album and I enjoyed it, the music is at times quite catchy, and the lyrics have some heart and intelligence to them. I especially liked the opening track.

You'd think after a couple of listens I would have more to say. Apparently not.

In the mid-80s he was in a Spanish/English rockabilly group called Hot Pants. He was a film-maker, occultist, and eccentric.
