Metronomy mostly is a guy from Devon, England, called Joseph Mount, although he has touring friends who also sometimes get involved in the studio. The music is described as being several things by Wikipedia - the most accurate is probably "electronic rock" but my favourite is "wonky pop"  There are six studio albums

Review:

My first impression was yuk, it's out of tune. It is, and quite a bit of slow, deep vibrato is used to make more out-of-tuneness. Mostly it's electronic and sounds like early electronic pop (except out of tune), such as you might expect from The Human League. Some of the tracks are instrumental, and the songs have a vocal delivery that is also reminiscent of the Human League, but some nice female vocal parts. There are occasional "real" instruments involved, and sometimes played not quite a well as you might imagine.

Strangely, though, after a while you get kind of used to it. At least, I did. It has a kind of charm to it, and the lyrics are slightly unusual and so add to the charm.

And I think that that is it in a nutshell. It sounds like things are a bit broken, but manages to have a coherence that makes it listenable - just about. I'm not sure I would seek it out.

 944 Manu Chao - Próxima Estación Esperanza (2001) Studio Album - World Music About the Act: Manu Chao is a French-Spanish musician of Spanish descent who grew up on the outskirts of Paris. In the mid-80s he was in a Spanish/English rockabilly group called Hot Pants. In 1987, with his brother and cousin he founded the band Mano Negra, combining punk and world music influences and playing on the Paris Metro. This band took off and had 4 studio albums. In 1995 Manu "went solo", forming the band Radio Bemba Sound System to be his backing band. The punk elements were less prominent, but he started to make music that "replicates the sound of street music and bar scenes from a variety of cultures". He was a film-maker, occultist, and eccentric. About the Album: Harry Smith had a collection of early 78rpm records of various "folk" styles dated from 1927 when such things first started to be commercially available to 1932 when the Great Depression put a stop to the sales of folk records. In 1947 he approached a label, Folkway Records, about releasing a collection of them transferred onto LPs.
